Translation

What types of medical documents do you translate?

Medical translation covers reports, test results, imaging findings, consent forms, discharge summaries, pharmaceutical texts, referral letters, and other clinical documentation. If you are unsure whether your document is within scope, contact me and I will confirm within one business day.

Are your translations accepted for use with official bodies?

Yes. As a graduate of the Ionian University’s Department of Translation and a member of PEEMPIP, I provide official translations valid for use with Greek public authorities, EU institutions, embassies, and official organisations. Each translation is stamped and signed.

How long does a medical translation take?

Turnaround time depends on the length, complexity, and subject matter of the document, as well as your deadline requirements. Once I have reviewed your document, I will provide a clear delivery timeframe before we proceed. Urgent requests are considered on a case-by-case basis — please indicate your deadline when requesting a quote.

How do you ensure translation quality?

Every translation is reviewed by a second language professional before delivery — covering accuracy, consistency, and terminology. This step is not optional for medical texts. It is part of the standard process.
All professionals involved in your translation are bound by the same confidentiality standards. Your documents and their contents are never shared beyond those directly involved in the work, and all parties operate in full compliance with GDPR.

Is my medical information kept confidential?

Yes. All documents and their contents are handled with complete discretion, in full compliance with GDPR. Where a second language professional is involved in the revision and proofreading process, they are bound by the same confidentiality standards. Your information is never shared beyond those directly involved in your translation, and confidentiality is maintained throughout every stage of the process.

Interpreting

Can you be present at my medical appointment in person?

Yes. In-person interpreting is available for appointments in Athens and surrounding areas. Remote interpreting via video call is also available for consultations taking place elsewhere in Greece or for clients preparing for treatment from abroad. If you are unsure which option suits your situation, we can discuss it during the consultation call.

What type of interpreting do you provide for remote sessions?

Remote interpreting is provided in consecutive mode — meaning the speaker pauses at natural intervals to allow for interpretation. This approach is well suited to medical consultations, where careful, considered communication is more important than speed. Sessions can be conducted on any video call platform of your choice.

What medical specialities can you interpret for?

I work across a range of medical specialities. Each appointment is prepared for individually — including a review of the relevant terminology — to ensure the interpreting session is as effective as possible. If you have a question about a specific speciality, please raise it during the consultation call.

I have ongoing treatment with multiple specialists. Can I use you regularly?

Yes. Working together across multiple appointments allows familiarity with your situation, your providers, and your specific terminology to develop over time, which generally makes each subsequent session clearer and more efficient for everyone involved.

What is the difference between a professional interpreter and a bilingual friend or hospital staff member?

A professionally trained medical interpreter brings specific skills that go beyond bilingualism, including managing the dynamics of a three-way conversation, maintaining strict neutrality, and upholding professional confidentiality standards. Bilingual individuals, however well-intentioned, are not trained in these areas. In medical settings, this difference matters.

What does language and communication support involve in practice?

It depends on your situation. For some clients, it means accompanying them to an appointment to assist with reception, paperwork, and non-clinical communications. For others, it means following up with a hospital on test results or handling written correspondence with a clinic in Greek. We discuss your specific needs at the consultation call so the support is tailored to what is actually useful for you.

Who is health empowerment coaching for?

It is for English-speaking people who are navigating or emerging from a significant health experience and are working out what comes next. This includes clients who feel uncertain or unsettled amid complex decisions, those who want to reconnect with their own values, priorities, and sense of identity as they consider what lies ahead, and those who are ready to move forward with greater self-awareness, confidence, and resilience. Yes. Services can be used together depending on your needs — for example, having documents translated, using interpreting for appointments, and working through coaching sessions to organise your thoughts and explore what moving forward looks like for you. Using a combination of services means one language professional is involved across different aspects of your healthcare experience in Greece.

Do you work with healthcare providers and clinics as well as individual patients?
